Hey! I'm Sophie and I am an English Literature student at the University Of Sheffield. I have always had a love of English and enjoy sharing my enthusiasm with others. My focus on English throughout my education has given me an expansive knowledge about different topics and techniques, as well as the best way to provide help in areas of difficulty. I am able to adapt lessons to the need of the student, identifying main areas of struggle such as analysis of techniques or how to structure an essay. I can also help with the best methods of revision, focussing on how you prefer to learn and what I think will be most beneficial to you. I will tailor each session based on what you have said you would like to focus on, structuring a plan to maximise what you can achieve. However, we will still take things at your pace and I can deviate from the original plan if we come across an area you require more time on. I know what is required to achieve excellent grades and how beneficial a little extra support can be, with the opportunity to ask questions and go over topics you might not be able to cover 1 on 1 in school, as well as providing structure to revision. I know the importance of self belief, and aim to help give you the confidence needed when tackling exams. Having struggled with anxiety myself, I know the difficulty of completing exams and can share useful tips and tricks to make sure it doesn't effect your brilliant work and hard revision. After our 15 minute meeting I am confident I can tailor our lessons to be both progressive and fun! I think it is so important to create a comfortable environment where no questions are silly and really pick out those strengths and accomplishments at the end of each session! Where you’ve excelled allows us to focus on areas that will boost your work. By building confidence, and learning a few tips and tricks of the subject no goal is unachievable!

I love to start my sessions off with a miniature quiz, recapping previous techniques or areas as I’ve found this most effective for my students to remember key points! Some students learn faster listening, and some by completing questions and work, so both of these are incorporated in ways that actively progress your understanding.
