My name is Konstantinos, and I am studying automotive engineering at the moment doing an integrated masters course. I found myself wanting to become an engineer at 2 points in my life. First was when I was working with my dad on a car and him teaching me so much about how a car is supposed to work but also how to go about a problem in a creative way. And the second point was when I was doing physics with my teacher. I learned so much about the way the world works such as the gravitational laws and the particles that make up the universe that I instantly knew that I wanted to be in the world of Science. And with that I wanted to become an engineer which is why I chose to study it.
I first found my joy in teaching and helping others out when I was helping my younger brother and younger sister figure out how to solve a specific type of question. I found that them telling me the ways I helped them solve a question was really useful really led me to enjoy tutoring. Seeing them sprout new ideas and approaches to a question really flourished when I was along with them. I found that building the confidence in answering questions is what is most important as they go to solve a problem without the fear of getting it wrong, which is most important in a learning environment. If a person feels safe to express their ideas and ways to tackle and understand a question then a faster and better progression can be seen.

Sessions are structured by working on topics where an individual may struggle on, so we work together throughout the content of the topic first and the way to approach a question before building the knowledge and confidence to tackle these harder questions on their own. When I see my students capable to answer multiple of these worksheets and test papers by themselves I can say that they have achieved their goal and aims for that topic so far, with plentiful encouragement to take questions they may have never seen before head on. To measure a students progress, a short test is taken where the individual practices without any training wheels., the paper is then marked together in the next session finding better ways to word and write our answers in reflection whilst also seeing what we have changed and done well on, creating good, new habits! Constantly testing yourself or as much as possible allows for the best reflection of your own skills to strive to do better!
