Hello!
I am currently doing my first year in Biomedical Sciences at St.George's University London, however I have a great love for English. I have taken English literature at A levels (and achieving an A*) as well as grade 9 in both GCSE English language and Literature. I have won numerous writing competitions both nationally and regionally and I also publish articles.
I feel that there is no such subject where you can reflect your own feelings and beliefs as passionately as you can in English. To me it is very important for students to develop their own sense of writing style and approach questions which are personalised to them. In this way students can develop a genuine interest in English and hence write from a place of clarity and thoughtfulness. I don't agree that students should be fed structured answers to memorise and regurgitate in exams!
My teaching style consists largely of doing practise essays together, and approaching exam questions. Whilst writing can sometimes seem daunting, I find that it is easier to work from the basics like helping structure essays or simply understanding Shakespearian language.
I hope to make studying English comfortable and enjoyable, crafting each student a mouthpiece of what attributes they want to reflect in their writing.
