Hi, my name is Oliver and I'm a 4th year mechanical engineering student studying at the University of Glasgow. Also planning on studying for a master’s degree here after my first 4 years. I chose to study engineering because I have always enjoyed my maths and science-based subjects at high school and found them the most interesting to study. So far, I'm really enjoying the course and looking forward to studying more areas within engineering as I progress through the years of my degree. I want to show that anyone is capable of success with hard work and it's not just down to talent. Throughout primary school and the start of high school, I found maths and physics hard and didn't do very well in them, but I started to go to extra classes and work hard in and out of school and with that hard work and time I improved and was able to achieve A's in both from national 5, higher and advanced higher (which is the highest study level of high school in Scotland). I decided to become a tutor on this site after tutoring 2 local students, and have enjoyed teaching them and improving my teaching style. I feel like I can improve students by using my experience and understanding how frustrating it can be to learn and use that to put myself in the student's position. Using my own experience and techniques I used when I started to improve and gain confidence within the subject, which I feel is key to being successful when learning any subject in school.
