Hi! My name is Catrin, I am a 24 years old and I have been tutoring for 4 years. I studied German and Spanish at the University of Exeter and recently graduated with a First Class Degree (Hons) with a Distinction in German. During my time at university, I was a member of the German and Hispanic society because I believe that full immersion into the culture of the target language is key. I loved studying German and Spanish because not only does it enable me to communicate with other people, it also helps me to understand the basics of my own native language too. In order to help my students improve, I believe that it is fundamental to learn the basic grammatical concepts of a language which will help immensely with speaking and listening skills. I spent one year living abroad in Spain as part of my degree and believe that this was vital in building my fluency and confident in Spanish and would love to pass on my knowledge to students!

I think it is vital to have a lesson plan in order to make the most of our sessions. I have many different examples for practising grammar and I am also confident in my ability to help with pronunciation skills. I think that beginning each lesson with consolidation from the previous lesson is important to help language development and then I have many exciting games which can aid vocabulary learning which we can do to finish our session! Having been tutored myself, I believe that patience and encouragement is vital to success in a language and I am able to measure progress with simple vocabulary and grammar tests.
